Gentlemen,

The Southern Division Officer's School planned for this November is hereby canceled.

Fort Washington National Park, the planned venue, will not  complete its'
restoration work on the enlisted barracks by the intended date, which is the
last available before the park closes for the winter season.

Gentlemen,

Major Mike Wenger, Chief of Staff of the Carolina Legion, suffered a most unfortunate accident near the
conclusion of the  Bentonville  event this past Sunday.  As I understand it,  the Major's mount spooked,
reared, and fell back upon him.  As a  result, Major Wenger suffered  multiple pelvic fractures, a punctured lung,
and has had some internal bleeding.  At latest  report (this afternoon) Major Wenger underwent  surgery to repair
his pelvic injuries.  The doctors however did not  complete the procedure due to concern over his strength.
The procedure  will be completed after he regains his strength.  He has of course been in rather severe pain,
mainly due to the punctured lung.

Brigadier General Stepp reports that Major Wenger has kept his irrepressible sense of humor through this
ordeal, a primary question  of his being "did someone shoot that damned horse?".

The Cmdg Gen'l has sent Major Wenger some reading material for his pleasure during his recuperation/hospital stay.

We have also sent flowers on behalf of the entire Southern Division.

Captain Benson, Carolina Legion, is posting updates on Major Wengers' condition on the
Carolina Legion site:
www.carolinalegion.com.

Instructions are located on the site if you desire to send your best wishes.

I also request that 2nd Brigade Battalion Commanders disseminate this information to their commands.

Please keep the Major in your prayers,

Respectfully,
R. Watters

Men of the Southern Division-

I would like to take a moment to wish each and everyone of you a very Merry Christmas.  At this time of the year, as our thoughts and hearts turn to God, Home and Hearth, I urge of you to take a moment to think about what we do, and why we do it. Remembering that while we are at home, warm and fed, brave American Citizen Soldiers, both past and present, are not able to sit down at the dinner table with family, or see the bright eyes of a child rushing to the tree to grab a present.  But rather they unselfishly stand guard over us, as we enjoy this most Blessed Day.

It is times like these that make me hope truly for “on earth, peace, good will to men”.

Working with each of you has been an honor and a privilege, and I am extremely humbled by the opportunity to serve each of you in the upcoming year.

I pray that each of you enjoy Christmas to its fullest, that your family and friends are kept safe in travel, and that the New Year brings many chances to be “afield” with my comrades in the Southern Division.

God Bless,

S. Christian Anders

Sir,

On behalf of the Southern Division, General Anders extends condolences to Captain Armstrong and his family for the loss of his beloved father.  Each and every passing of such valorous veterans is a loss in which we all share.  The sacrifices which men such as Mr. Armstrong made will hopefully not be forgotten by the general population through efforts such as ours.

Please pass this expression of condolence on to the good Captain.

In solidarity with the Carolina Legion, the Southern Division Staff are hereby directed to wear emblems of military mourning for the next 90 days at all events where the uniform is worn.
