Southern Division Infirm

Wednesday, 30 June 2010

David Stanley, commander of the
1st NC Artillery and Commander of Artillery for
the Southern Division, has had an event which prompted  him to be admitted to the
Cape Fear Valley Hospital in North Carolina.

He had become seriously ill recently. This was on the heels of his ICD
(a pace maker like device) firing at an ROTC scheduled range event last Thursday in
South Carolina, resulting in his being hospitalized for observation overnight. As of now, the
two events  appear to be unrelated.  Two CT scans in Fayetteville  had shown a couple of shadowed areas
diagnosed as "bleeds" in his brain. To make a long story  short, his medications have
changed and he is getting additional scans to determine if the areas  have changed.

Initial results are fairly positive but time will tell.

He is recovering some of the cognition compromised by the event...hopefully this will continue
to improve. Any conclusions as to when he'll be able to go home are as yet undefined but if he is judged to have been stabilized, he'll be as safe home as in the hospital.
